      @pepppppy Not sure how well the IR touchscreen would handle phantom multitouch presses though (e.g. 3-corners).

      @pepppppy It probably works for fingers, but if you overlaid a uniform grid of buttons then it ought to suffer from phantom presses, no?

      @marcan42 you could offset the actuation point of each button a few mm to avoid that, no doubt.

      @pepppppy Heck, if you could hack the controller firmware, then screw "normal" contact and use a coded mask arrangement for each button.

          @marcan42 or just use proper physical buttons with no reliance on the touch screen. that seems most reliable..

          @pepppppy Yeah, I was just wondering if it could be done on the cheap. You need 64 physical buttons to do it properly.
