Guess the output on -O3, your preferred compiler and types for a and b: if (a + 5 < b) printf("%d\n", __builtin_constant_p(a + 5 < b));

@comex GCC 4.7.2 prints 1 for all of int/char/float/double/int*.

@marcan42 nice to know. apparently the version of gcc on this goobuntu machine is 4.6.3; I assumed since it wasn't 4.2 it was ok to test :P

@marcan42 I get the same, but oddly enough, 0 for unsigned int

@comex unsigned int also prints 1 for me, on both versions. odd.
