      @routerbad The GameCube came out in 2001. R600 came out in 2006. Not even close.

      @marcan42 So did Nintendo ever confirm that it was in fact GX shrunk down and overclocked? No additional capability whatsoever?

      @routerbad they didn't confirm it, but we know that is the case. Same exact hardware interface and SDK API. It might have a few bugfixes.

      @marcan42 @routerbad But if the API is the same how can the GPU match at least OpenGL 3.3? It's supposed that it has programmable shaders...

      @Cosmycal We were talking about the WIi (vs. GameCube), not the Wii U. The WIi does not have programmable shaders.

      @marcan42 Sorry for the dissmisal. So the Wii U has it's "new" GPU and alongside it the same old GPU for hardware backwards compatibility?

      @Cosmycal however, we know that the video output (VI) hardware *is* emulated by a dedicated (small) microcontroller.
