It's happening. macOS Big Sur 11.2 beta 2 is out with full custom kernel support. Expect a fun early bring-up stream tomorrow. Time to get a few hours of sleep.pic.twitter.com/Ujq159DqWQ

The OS now finally includes the firmware and bootloaders and tools necessary to replace Big Sur with not-Big-Sur. That was previously not possible.

Linux people are very good at finding every possible exploit and publishing detailed guides. Apple may not confirm, but they read those guides very closely. They benefit a lot from that work. It’s a win win. Linux on Mac for us and knowledge for Apple engineers.

Why installing Linux, when I bought a iMac or MacBook. If I want a PC that has the same performance I can get on for 60% of the price and install Linux. I just have iMac because of MacOS and it’s more comfortable than a hackintosh for me

This isn't a PC. It is the highest performance and efficiency ARM laptop on the market, by a long shot. Quite cost effective for the specs too. You cannot buy a non-Apple machine with the same specs. They don't exist.

Okay but you can buy laptops or PCs with similar specs for cheaper for sure. It’s the same like an iPhone 11 Pro Max and 12 pro, 12 pro is better but 11 pro is that good, that it doesn’t really matters. And Linux doesn’t require good specs to be good.

But it’s nice anyway for people who wants to use Linux but don’t want to buy a new laptop or PC
