So here is an interesting copyright question to ponder: are we allowed to redistribute binaries of open source software that have been compiled and signed by Apple?

The build process does/may involve such originality, include testing, etc. And signing can be the tricky part, since it's not reproducible by any other party. Unless the Linux community gets its own signing key.
