Our goal is to make Linux run on Apple Silicon, not to create a new desktop experience, so you can use whatever desktop Linux environment you want. A priori we are not planning on developing anything new on that front, just making existing things run well.

Things that *are* in scope, though, are details such as the Touch Bar; I don't know how far we'll push for integration with that, but at the very least there will be some new software developed to make it useful (that will also be useful for Intel Touch Bar Macs down the line).

Thank you for clearing that up, this is essentially a backend for any Linux distro I guess. One more question. What will Asahi Linux support in terms of graphics APIs? OpenGL? Vulkan? I’m interested in emulation

We aim to support both OpenGL and Vulkan, but OpenGL will probably come first.
