Gentoo has one of the most complex package dependency graphs out there (probably the most complex of any distro), and it *really* takes a while to resolve when you have 2600 packages installed and haven't updated in 3 months. I wonder if it could be mapped to a SAT solver...

A blank one? Sure, that takes just a few minutes. One with all these packages and USE flags? Definitely not, I wasn't rebuilding *anything* and that would've had the same problems.

Also, I was in a similar situation oncein 200x: upgrading macppc Gentoo off the university network and coming back after the summer break with months of changes piled up. I decided to bring back the Slackintosh project instead
