Cypress’ CCGx series has a cortex-m0 embedded
ST apparently had some Cortex-M0 micros with both USB and USB-PD interfaces planned, which would be ideal for an Apple serial cable, but apparently they're delayed... Right now a cheapo USB STM32 plus a FUSB302 is cheaper than one of their available higher end models.

they only have two USB-PD controllers but no USB.

There‘s also NXP‘s PTN5110, but I think FUSB302 is the darling of the public. I‘d do the same! I‘ll probably take one of my ARM boards...
