Third time this year I last minute drop out of a thing due to mild physical symptoms (95% chance it's nothing, but I'm not putting people at 5% risk).

Relatable. I had a cluster of seemingly unrelated symptoms (headaches, sore chest, palpitations one time) that I ended up getting a COVID test over. Turns out: they WERE unrelated. The test came back negative. Still no clue what the deal with the palpitations was though.
I just had some chills and maybe a hot flush... Which is almost certainly a medication side-effect. But combined with a similar thing last night (which was brief, and might just be I literally was just cold)... I'm not taking the risk.

Worst part is last time I said I'd attend this thing I canceled for similar reasons, months ago... I *might* have actually been sick back then, but the antibody test said it wasn't COVID. Was hoping to at least see the other folks one more time before the year is over... Oh well

First person I personally know in Tokyo tested positive recently. Being cautious seems totally reasonable.
