Huh. So apparently SteamVR for Windows Mixed Reality crashes when you turn on the controllers... if you're running in a VM with a certain CPU configuration? This sounds like one bizarre heck of a bug.

Or is there some nontransparent stuff about hyperthreads that can crash software when they aren't where the OS thinks they should be?

I wouldn't be surprised if unpinned exposes GPU driver bugs.. but then I don't really know how all that NUMA stuff works anyway

Wild guess, but maybe you just hit the threshold to trigger a tight race condition?

It's completely consistent though... Crashes if I boot it with controllers turned on, or after I turn them on if I boot it with them off. seems unlikely...
