Got to see the talk, but AFAIK that's true only for high frequency (specially digital circuits). For low frequency analog for example energy is in the copper (or maybe I have been mistaken all my life).
Well yes, he covered that. For LF analog (or DC static power stuff) the energy is in the copper.

I was one of the guys that back in the day believed the nonsense about split planes in mixed signal circuits that Analog Devices, Crystal Semicondutor, etc. were recommending. And that did byte me hard.
