Finally! Glasgow is out! Everyone go get one already! Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen! This really is the do-it-all tool for interfacing anything that needs <=16 I/Os, and the price is a complete steal for its features. Next: revD/E :-)https://twitter.com/1bitsquared/status/1341502380601270275 …

We know, you have been waiting for Glasgow campaign for way too long -- we appreciate your patience! ;) One year later, one additional major hardware revision, and one of the strangest years in living memory winding to a close. The time has finally come! https://www.crowdsupply.com/1bitsquared/glasgow …

A bit of backstory: I had wanted something like this for a long time, and I wrote a design doc for something I called "IceFace". It turned out that what I had envisioned was basically between Glasgow revD and revE, so instead I joined forces with @whitequark.

revB already existed, so I did most of the design and PCB layout for revC0/1, and then electronic_eel and @esden did excellent work optimizing it for cost and manufacturability in revC2. I'm really looking forward to tackling revD! (revA/B are superseded, ignore them 😉 )

I also have to thank @GregDavill, who cloned our master branch before I was even done with it, and fabbed a bunch of PCBs off a random commit (I later tagged it revC0), and sent them to us so we could write software for them. The joys of open hardware 😅https://twitter.com/GregDavill/status/1084051015920365568 …

Just after I built my Glasgow revB. @marcan42 designed up this beautiful revC0 board. Of course there is no software support yet. I'm not even sure if anyone has actually built one of these yet? Is it foolish to order un-proven PCBs: Yes, I am a fool. 🤪 pic.twitter.com/1M6Reh1F5S

Thankfully revC0 isn't too broken, for those few people with one. There are some hardware patches required, but we're maintaining software compat. revB will remain supported too, within the limitations of that architecture. https://github.com/GlasgowEmbedded/glasgow/wiki/ECNs …

revD is revC minus the LVDS header but with 32 I/Os. revE is a total redesign based on ECP5 with high-speed IO, Ethernet, and a modular architecture, but maintaining source-level applet compatibility. That's the plan anyway.
