And by the way, for the repairability folks: replaceable RAM on mobile devices is going away for good reason. Two SODIMMs is 128 bits of multi-GHz bus across multiple cm of board and a connector. That *eats* power. This isn't manufacturers being out to screw us, it's physics.

Yes. That's just a consequence of the M1 being a mobile-first SoC. They're reusing the same chip. I expect Apple Silicon Mac Pros to have modular RAM (and the iMacs really should too).

You are of course correct, closer together = more better. It's just always bugged me that they want the best battery life but then squish the device as thin as the can when they could have old school thick devices with a stupid long life. Tho the Prev gen MacMini was BS on RAM
