      Let me repeat this: If you live in the SF Bay Area with AT&T as your ISP and have been having weird, intermittent internet issues since Nov 15, you MUST reach out to @ATTHelp or they won’t fix it because they will refuse to investigate the issues on their network. Please RT.

      Current status on this is that, with @bmastenbrook's help, we've confirmed that AT&T fiber in the Bay Area is flipping bits at specific offsets in packets, breaking TLS handshakes and corrupting non-TLS content in predictable ways.

          I’ve seen it happen with a circuit where one side has a noise filter (strangely called encryption) on and the other doesn’t, too. Most packets are fine but random packets look like the header for encryption and get treated as such and dropped. Took months to figure it out.
