What’s the end goal? Linux under a hypervisor? Completely wiping the disk and booting Linux all the way up to a GUI on an MBP? Something else? Because it seems to me the former is probably fairly easy (someone has already done QEMU) and the latter nearly impossible.

The latter (or dual-boot, most likely, for most people). Yes, sometimes people say things are impossible and then I do them anyway :-)

Any plans to integrate your changes into some existing distro? I've had issues with running vanilla kernels both with Fedora AND Ubuntu. It'd be amazing if you came out of the gate with support for any (already stable) distro Obviously they will catch up once you go mainline :)

My target will likely be Arch Linux initially. Since this will all be very bleeding edge, it's unlikely to be usable out of the box on stable distros for quite a while (a year or two at least if things go fast), but I hope someone cooks up PPAs or something :)

I'm actually going to need the Arch Linux ARM folks to let me donate a mirror, because all the existing ones are *terrible" from Japan... and I have a server here. Apparently they work on a push model so I can't just, like, do it without asking? :-)

Hm. I'm unsure how they manage their mirrors. I thought we had some stuff to help them with package mirrors, but that was only archlinux32. I'm a bit unsure if there is any good reasons for them to decline a mirror though.

Oh, they haven't declined or anything, IIRC I only asked on IRC once and nobody saw it/replied. I'll have to fire off an email probably (the other listed contact method for this).
