Any idea how problematic the firmware is? Is it like Intel ME/AMD PSP where it's basically a backdoor with full host access? Or closer to POWER9 (which has open source firmware you can deploy to your CPU)? Somewhere in between?

SEP firmware is closed and secured, and should be be quite privileged, but also probably won't try to slip behind your Ethernet card like ME can. I also trust Apple's security way more than ME/PSP. Unlike x86, there's no SMM code on the *main* CPU, so that's a plus.
