Can the cryptographic boot verification be bypassed or disabled? If that barrier is removed, then it seems like a lot more likely to succeed. But if you’re jailbreaking the boot, then this is a treadmill you’ll never get off.
-
See the previous tweet from yesterday with the poll for more details. but yes the bootloader can be put into a lower security mode and you can boot your own binaries.

Forking the thread a bit... do you think getting ARM Linux to boot under a hypervisor will be more than a no-op?
-
Not sure, there may be some nits but probably largely a no-op? As long as it doesn't choke on things like cache line size and such.

"Yes, sometimes people say things are impossible and then I do them anyway" “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.“ When they say things are impossible we push it harder! Fuck yeah it's possible.
-
I did say *nearly* impossible. But that was before it was pointed out that it was not necessary to defeat Apple’s cryptographic secure boot. That moves it to being merely difficult instead.

Any plans to integrate your changes into some existing distro? I've had issues with running vanilla kernels both with Fedora AND Ubuntu. It'd be amazing if you came out of the gate with support for any (already stable) distro Obviously they will catch up once you go mainline :)
-
My target will likely be Arch Linux initially. Since this will all be very bleeding edge, it's unlikely to be usable out of the box on stable distros for quite a while (a year or two at least if things go fast), but I hope someone cooks up PPAs or something :)
