Personally I’d be ok without peripheral support since they would make good build servers with no or rudimentary display or audio support. I’m curious how long this would take though which kind of influences my donation level
If you literally just want Mac Minis headless with the CPU at full blast, I would expect that would happen very fast into the development timeline, compared to getting to the point where someone would want this on a daily driver laptop.

But then again... virtualized Linux on macOS also gets you there quite easily.

Exactly.. I'm wondering why anybody would actually want a Linux desktop distro on a laptop, macOS already offers a very good BSD solution. Everything else is commandline, porting mainstream FOSS projects should be fairly simple.
