I replaced them with some older-stock IKEA screws and they were fine. This didn't happen ~5 years ago when I did the same exact thing with a Detolf and Capita, so clearly something has changed since then.

i may be incorrect but I believe ikea screws are cut with different threads? not relevant if there just going into chipboard but I know for some ikea products there’s other parts they have to fit into

These are just the generic wood screws that come with Capita feet. They are designed to go into chipboard kitchen cabinets (I use them off-label for Detolfs, but it's basically the same thing).
