I don't think the ABI problem is solvable generally. It is solvable for specific defined interfaces with manually written translation code (which is what a plug-in wrapper which I describe later would do).
Doing that in-process seems to be a no-go with Rosetta 2 AIUI, so it would have to be out-of-process though.

What's the big difficulty in stalling the process the first time and jitting it to native? I mean, AlphaBIOS could translate x86 option ROMs for VESA BIOS calls directly in real time 26 years ago, and that didn't even have calling conventions.
