anyone i know used IPoTB? i've tested it yesterday. pros: absolutely zero fuss. cons: i get only 10.3 Gbps for some reason, instead of... 2 to 4 times as much?
Wait, is this actually a thing by design? I've noticed this behavior but I always attributed it to flaky connectors.

Well the fact that it happens is a side-effect of bad spec. I think it was
@whitequark or@ktemkin who posted/rt'd something about it, but I can't find it at the moment. Can't remember which part of the header spec it was or if it was a "vendor option" gap.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

https://eu.mouser.com/applications/usb-type-c-adds-hdmi/ … From what I understand, orientation plays very little role and if one way works better than the other its probably because of pin CC1 or CC2 being unreliable on that specific cable

This isn't specific to the HDMI application, this is an issue with the physical header spec of USB-C and how it behaves w/ the original power delivery spec which was based on 2.0 not 3.x, so CCx are ignored.
