And Japan is largely the same because they just copied the Americans here. Except Japan is worse because grounded outlets weren't even a common thing until very recently. At most you got a ground screw terminal in a few select outlets for appliances.

At my old apartment (1980) after lack of ground killed a board I was working on, I ended up running a ground from the kitchen microwave outlet to my workbench. Thankfully I moved to a 2007 construction apartment and there are some grounded outlets here. Not all. Some.
