is it weird that i can occasionally make out a red glow in my phone's face ID array, where the dot projector is like, is it not quite infrared? or can humans sometimes see a bit into that spectrum? i've occasionally noticed this with other IR emitters as well
Near IR is perceptible by humans. I can see some remote control LEDs in dark lighting too. Same with the Kinect dot projector, you can see the red flashes. IR CD-ROM pickup lasers too. Sensitivity is low but not negligible.
