I had to have a conversation once with someone who insisted connectors are patriarchal and sexist... I'm like, do you have *any* idea how diverse connectors are?

the gender naming is a bit cisnormative, and you could see it as reducing people to their genitalia, so I can sorta see where that's coming from, though those aren't necessarily the words I'd use

Yeah, but her argument wasn't even along cisnormativity, more like "male connectors are tougher" which... just no. And if you look at modern connectors in particular, it's hard to draw parallels to genitalia.
