      I'll admit that it took COVID to make wearing masks completely normal for me in Japan. I'd done it a few times when I got a cold in the past, but not most of them, and didn't keep a stock.       When I visited Japan I saw a lot of people in public wearing masks. I asked, "Are they scared of getting sick?" I was told, "No, they think they could be sick and are protecting everyone else." And that was it. No complaining or wailing about masks. Just consideration for others.

      In the US major surgeries for cancer patients & the like are being pushed back 6+ months since COVID cases are flooding hospitals. Doctors are urging people to wear masks & not be selfish because there’s people w/ long term, painful, fatal diseases that need to be taken care of.

      The high incidence of selfishassholeitis is one reason I no longer live in the US and ended up in Japan instead.
