Oh..! I have always thought a usb 3.0 hub would use usb 3.0 for all transfers but this was just based on guessing how stuff works. Do you know if such a hub exists? Or would it essentially need a usb 2.0 host controller connected over usb 3.0?
There isn’t a USB 3.x to 2.0 transaction translator in the specification, so hubs don’t do this. There’s one chip I know of that encapsulates USB2 data over USB3 — the VL-671; and it’s outside of the hub spec, so I imagine you wouldn’t see it in many hubs.
Based on the product number on the side, they’re 3.0 drives. :)
Those are 2.0 USB pendrives. 3.0 are DTSE9G2.
