Meta is when you're talking about how there is no equivalent word in the Japanese language to express the word "equivalent". Languages are fun.

Japanese certainly has words which translate to "equivalent", but what I was getting at was that where I'd use "equivalent word in Japanese ", in Japanese you would just say "word with the same meaning in English" or something along those lines.

of course, often I find the literal translations to be enlightening culturally in some ways - all translations are imperfect and have their own interpretation. I really love to compare translations of works just for that reason! no worries :)
