Square Sounds' response to recent events, & our commitment to a safer community. In light of the recent statements made, and the current climate of the chip scene, Square Sounds - Kristy, Alex and Eugene in Melbourne, and David in Tokyo want everyone to know the following.1/9

We first became aware of James / Cheapshot’s behavior when mentioned in a tweet by Emi. Until recently we were unaware of other experiences of members of the chipscene. The behaviour, as well as the subsequent handling of the situation were totally inappropriate 2/9

and not in line with the values of either the Square Sounds events, or, our personal values. We apologise for not doing anything sooner. We should have taken action more quickly, like we have aimed to do in every other aspect of Square Sounds 3/9

Kristy, Alex and Eugene will, as always, be looking after Melbourne (although as many of you know we aren’t sure we will run another show for entirely unrelated reasons), and, for the foreseeable future, David will be running Tokyo solo but with support from 5/9

incidents involving the remaining staff, extended team or artists we encourage you to come forward. We know for some people it can be hard to come forward and specifically directly to the organisational team. For this reason you can submit anonymously 7/9

Thank you for doing this. I reported two situations via the form that, while nowhere near the sexual harassment cases that started this, were indeed times I felt uncomfortable at or around SST. I hope you find it useful (though no specific action is required).
