my partner at the time and i decided to take a trip to celebrate me getting my new passport with my new name and gender marker, and we decided the cheapest flights were on November 8, 2016, a date i hope some of you recognize.

we voted early (clinton, begrudgingly), and got on a plane. i had just started a new remote job, and so i was working that day. i let my boss know i'd be unavailable for calls and paid the US$20 or so for the in-flight wifi so i could work.

i was the only one on the plane who had wifi.

i did not get a lot of work done. tabbing back and forth between fivethirtyeight, nytimes, cnn, and watching everything go to shit while hurtling over the ocean in a tiny metal box with no room for my knees.

one of the american flight attendants noticed i had wifi and whispered "uh is it okay" "no. no it's not" clinton conceded about 20 minutes before we went into landing
