Touhou is officially political, and if you're offended that artists dare venture into support for minorities that you hate (even on commission!), you can fuck right off and find another fandom. (Sorry not sorry for letting my Japanese alt account leak into main)
Just to be clear, the context here is that an artist was asked to draw a character holding a trans flag and a lesbian flag, on commission. That's it. If you think they should refuse such requests "to be apolitical", you're a hateful bigot (and clueless about Touhou).

If you're saying it in response to artists bringing up these subjects at all, no, you're just a bigot. Acknowledging the existence of gender and sexual minorities is not politics, people only call it politics as a shitty excuse to be bigoted.
You helped me close a mental loop here; - There can be a want to discourage controversial (probably disagreed-with) politics in hobbies, etc. - These subjects are valuable/demanded for by the time - It’s almost impossible to touch on them without modern perspectives touching them
See, the thing is some people might not *care*, and that's okay (to a point). Not everyone has to be an ally. You're free to ignore material that touches on those topics. But the people *complaining* and telling artists not to go there are usually just outright bigots.
