Unix beards: "Stupid Windows forcing you to restart for updates!" My Linux workstation, while BTRFS is doing something, CPU pegged at 100% and I can't even browse the web: "LOL"

... I mean, you're using btrfs. Asking for it :P After hearing all the horror stories, and having some of my own with xfs, I'm sticking with ext4 everywhere by default. Ceph for big storage machines.

Yeah, OpenSUSE decided that for me when I installed that machine or I would probably have not bothered. I might replace the whole thing with ext4 if I decide to replace the NVMe on that NUC. But not for now. From my own experience, XFS is only for tepid storage.

I used to run XFS on the Tinderbox filesystem. Bad idea! It took less time to tar c-mkfs-tar x than to delete the temporary files.

My main problem with XFS was that I spent *years* with random interactivity hiccups, sometimes multi-second, until I finally found out that XFS will randomly block on I/O when evicting ****clean**** pages from RAM. So any app allocating memory with free memory can block!
