If anything, Windows' sin is that rebooting *for updates* takes ages and sometimes multiple reboots. Kernel updates on Linux are just a normal reboot cycle. So while both need periodic reboots, on Windows those reboots cause significant downtime, while on Linux they don't.

Which is a fair criticism to Windows and one that (from my point of view) Microsoft has been addressing quite aggressively in the last few years. But if you look at it with the DiRT/ChaosMonkey in mind, has the side effect of reminding you uptime is not god.
