But yes, 100% uptime is irresponsible and windows doesn't make you reboot nearly as often as it used to.

If anything, Windows' sin is that rebooting *for updates* takes ages and sometimes multiple reboots. Kernel updates on Linux are just a normal reboot cycle. So while both need periodic reboots, on Windows those reboots cause significant downtime, while on Linux they don't.

Yeah, OpenSUSE decided that for me when I installed that machine or I would probably have not bothered. I might replace the whole thing with ext4 if I decide to replace the NVMe on that NUC. But not for now. From my own experience, XFS is only for tepid storage.

I used to run XFS on the Tinderbox filesystem. Bad idea! It took less time to tar c-mkfs-tar x than to delete the temporary files.
