Sorry, I exhausted my mental budget for this kind of stuff yesterday with the somewhat convoluted process and custom template to get that edge to edge direct print to happen. But at least it has CD-TEXT and the audio data is carefully resampled and dithered :-)

what is the secret to this success?

Direct printing, a custom template to carefully align it and overprint by a fraction of a mm, and then using a tissue to carefully wipe away the slight amount of ink that beads up on the plastic outside the label, on the overprint area.

Ages ago I've been using "lightscribe" the results is in no way comparable to what you achieved here!

I had some glossy printable DVD-Rs years ago, and the results in the inkjet I had at the time were gorgeous.
