So yeah, if you use OBS on Windows, make sure you install the CoreAudio codec (you can extract the msi from the iTunes installer), and on Linux make sure you use a build with libfdk_aac. Is it detected at runtime, or do you have to reinstall OBS to get it to work? Any idea if the same is true for Streamlabs' fork?

No reinstall needed, just a restart. Streamlabs OBS tries to use it too but fails in my (limited) experience, so it seems it's broken there.
