      So yeah, if you use OBS on Windows, make sure you install the CoreAudio codec (you can extract the msi from the iTunes installer), and on Linux make sure you use a build with libfdk_aac.       On Windows OBS will use CoreAudio when possible and otherwise fall back to ffmpeg. We also had the Windows AAC encoder for a while but that thing had some other fun issues.

      Is it detected at runtime, or do you have to reinstall OBS to get it to work? Any idea if the same is true for Streamlabs' fork?

      No reinstall needed, just a restart. Streamlabs OBS tries to use it too but fails in my (limited) experience, so it seems it's broken there.
