If you have multiple stereos in the same room, they all play the current song in sync, but they still work as spatially independent sound sources with different responses and you get some really cool surround sound effects by standing in between them.

I love the series’ attention to real time sound generation and effects. I love the in-game instruments! Also, Animal Crossing’s music used to be MIDI-like files + very small samples (or even oscillators, but I’m not sure). On WW/CF the only PCM file was the title screen theme.

Also not just the character themes and bells and stuff, but also door chimes and other subtle sounds seem to be based on whatever island melody you set.

These "speaker models" are actually just different recordings of the same song: BGM_Audio_088_Idol_Cheap/_Hifi/_Phono/_Retro in this case.

What about the directionality and spatial effects though?

Also if you put a fan in front of some plants they will shake in the wind. I love how much effort they put in those details.

The sound design in this game is beyond incredible. Everyone should just wander around their island with headphones at some point. So many subtle details. Makes me wish I could turn the outside music off.

Does the reverb change depending on room/house size? I wonder what they sound like in a tent...
