Current internet connection status (all values down,up mbps/ping ms, testing against a server in an NTTPC datacenter): PPPoE IPv4: 10/211/22 PPPoE IPv6: 8/180/29 IPoE IPv6: 252/341/4 DS-Lite IPv4: 246/660/5 I think COVID is consistently killing NTT'S PPPoE access concentrators.

yeah my pppoe connection down goes wildly from normal good speed to barely functional, I wonder what's actually going on...

Even before COVID it had its ups and downs, though a lot of it also depended on the ISP you were behind. But now I think it's just fallen off the cliff. I suspect part of it is bad QoS/balancing. In the early morning hours it's fine, though.

yup I noticed it's generally fine at specific times of day. you're probably right about bad qos, but I guess I'm surprised it's so dramatic

You could try to get on an IPoE + DS-Lite contract, like I did yesterday. Just be aware you only get a single /64 unless you have hikari denwa... but given the performance difference I might just give up and shell out the ¥500/mo for a phone I don't need.

I think I'll have to do that, it's been pretty annoying to get such poor speeds. I don't host stuff from home so only having one address should be fine enough

A /64 is a whole subnet, so you can still pass it through to your LAN, just not several subnets.

oh right. I didn't think about that aspect actually, not much of a networking person (and even less familiar with ipv6)
