      What does that buy me? Just adding the rtmp module to plain vanilla nginx seems to work quite well.

          It doesn't buy you anything if you can't imagine doing anything beyond what a static nginx config gets you. But if you can think of ways you would like to utilize a scriptable nginx engine, you might find it interesting. I've played with using it as a stream mixer through ffmpeg.

          In this case I'm just using nginx to bounce video internally between performers and myself, so I don't need any smarts on the server (I'll be doing all the mixing locally with OBS). But good to know that I can do fancy things like that :-)
