Anyway as far as I can tell Daikin have a wired control protocol that is standardized-ish for most of their models, and I think I've figured out how to hook up to mine without spending money on official converter boards or WiFi boxes. I just have to reverse engineer it :)

Daikin ones are. When you press the button, it reports the room temp and the outside temp.
