      Worth mentioning. Some new software can and does do this still. We had a project at AMD to get 8k 60fps with good scrubbing performance for Adobe premiere. It works. Most new software is lazy...

      I'd like to hear about how exactly you intended to get 8k 60fps with good scrubbing without overprovisioning your decode performance by enough to be able to quickly decode all frame dependencies within a GOP... or just caching raw frames or proxies.

      Wouldn't work very well for scrubbing beyond a few seconds, which is about how much would fit on onboard memory in raw video... not that Chrome would be entitled to claim that video RAM for itself unlike something like Premiere :-)

          True. 8k is a generally pretty specific use case haha. For little gifs and videos though...
