Most things are going on as normal. Number of cases seems to be pretty low. Some say Japan has dodged a bullet; it's the "low contact" culture. No hugs & handshakes. Lower rates of testing just means the numbers are a few days behind reality, the way exponential growth works. My prediction is Japan has a slightly lower R0 due to the low contact culture... Which means shit is going to hit the fan badly in, oh, the next 2-4 weeks.pic.twitter.com/wKZ1afyKj9

If testing numbers are low, looks at number of deaths. Still relatively low.

There is some suspicion that deaths also aren't being accounted properly (e.g. as pneumonia). It's not entirely clear. It does seem to be the case that progression is slower than in other countries, because the medical system isn't overwhelmed, but I think it's a matter of time.
