Okay, @yubico, what the hell. https://www.yubico.com/support/security-advisories/ysa-2020-01/ … SQL injection. In a product by a security vendor. In 2020. And you fixed it with "data validation"?!?! Not prepared statements?!? Not even just escaping the params‽‽‽‽ This is downright criminally irresponsible code.pic.twitter.com/hQ81F8Pdwl

That code looks like PHP when I started using it, more than a decade ago: the community has moved on to better practices, but I guess code reviews are still optional :-(

Are you sure the "community" has moved on to better practices? Because the official community documentation is *still* recommending precisely what Yubico did here.https://twitter.com/marcan42/status/1089238169839489025 …

It's 2019 and PHP is *still* teaching people to concatenate SQL and vaguely-sanitized user input instead of using prepared statements. http://php.net/manual/en/mysqli.examples-basic.php … They got rid of the mysql module... only to teach people to use mysqli the same way. This is why SQLi isn't going away.

Best way to get this under attention is to file a security bug at https://bugs.PHP. net — I'll go have a look

http://php.net  docs? Good question: don't use them anymore (full of terrible snippets indeed!). Prepared statements are common knowledge tho. Most doc usage nowadays is: * let the IDE infer the types for a certain API * write a goddamn test first, then implement :D

woah, that's pretty bad, to be honest. Because written tests check for things that you're expecting. And if there's no docs to rely on, how would you even know what you're preparing for?

You're still complaining instead of fixing it? Easy to just complain on Twitter.
