It's awesome. The performance is often better, especially in terms of latency. All the weeks of pain fiddling with IPsec. I really don't miss that.
Apparently it gets better performance with ChaCha20 in software than IPSec with AES-NI which is... Surprising. Huh.
I'm really not sure what they did right, but it just doesn't feel like using a VPN when using it to do "normal" tasks. No lag spikes, no random packet loss (like often happens with OpenVPN) VoIP, SSH, DNS, web browsing all work perfectly through WG.
The public-key-based routing concept was a bit confusing at first, but it's pretty clever.
