IPSec genuinely scares me. I’ve never gotten it to reliably work for anything
I use it at home between identical implementations and I haven't gotten more complex configs to work... Looking forward to replacing it with WireGuard if the performance is up to par.
It's awesome. The performance is often better, especially in terms of latency. All the weeks of pain fiddling with IPsec. I really don't miss that.
Apparently it gets better performance with ChaCha20 in software than IPSec with AES-NI which is... Surprising. Huh.
Can’t comment about IPSec itself too heavily, but WireGuard so far has treated me well. It’s blazingly fast compared to the monolith of OpenVPN in practically any configuration, even with high loss of UDP in networks
