I used to work in automotive and find this hilarious. Not only are they flashing an image without first having fully cached it locally, but they're also not backing up the existing image beforehand as a fallback. And by "hilarious", I mean incredibly irresponsible.

It's not even just that. There are like twelve hour sensor relearns on some cars (for radar, etc.) where the car cannot be running, the car has to be powered up, the computer has to be connected. Interruption to power to either the car (which is running only on it's battery) or
