iirc macOS removed this recently, and tied FDE to login passwords :(

For people happy to use it FaceID & TouchID do fulfill a goal very similar to this. I use a longer alphanumeric password on iPhone much more happily because I don’t need to use it to unlock every time. Also respect that some won’t want to though am personally happy with FaceID.

I don't remember Android ever allowing it. It always required rooting and running a vdc command to change the FDE password, AFAIK.
