I have seen and absolutely don't mind clauses requiring you to perpetually and freely LICENSE off hours intellectual output relevant to the company business to the company upon request by the company. Claiming OWNERSHIP is a whole different matter.
I'm not even sure if it's quite acceptable to require licensing either, but it's certainly a hell of a lot better than ownership. In *practice*, I probably wouldn't care much about a licensing clause (but other people might).
The "relevant to business" and "upon request" part really make it.
