The Pi 4 is obviously a rushed job. Close to no software was ready, many hardware issues (see USB C woes for example), etc.
2560x1440@60Hz has a pixel clock of 241.5 MHz, TMDS clock of 2.415 GHz, and suddenly your Raspberry Pi 4 can't use 2.4GHz WiFi and 1440p at the same time, because EMI is hard. I stopped with the 3, and regretted that purchase because of its constant (closed source) firmware issues, etc. As I see the 4 is no different, or possibly worse, I'll wait for 5 and re-evaluate again.

This has nothing to do with wide adoption of the band. HDMI isn't a wireless protocol. It could've happened with any other band at the corresponding pixel clock.

Use USB 3.0 on your Pi and your WiFi will drop as well. Same happens to MacBooks when using USB 3 and WiFi at the same time.
