If that's true the new generation of consoles will really set a new bar of CPU processing power, many PC's will be left far behind in that regard.
Rumor has it that the upcoming Zen2 APUs will have up to 12 cores... That's one 
for what I need to finally upgrade my current laptop/workstation. Now someone just needs to make a laptop with one of those and either ExpressCard or Thunderbolt.

Console APUs are custom, I doubt they're going to put 12 cores on there. Games don't need that much oomph, they'd rather spend silicon area on the GPU.

I'm pretty sure they will only have 8 cores. The power consumption from 12 will be too high unless they clock them really slow.

They will focus on cross core coherency like Intel did.. IMO AMD won me over with SME and SEV; I'm just waiting on opt-in cache crypto so things like an HIPS immune to all stack and heap attacks becomes possible; this worked well in pay TV and the MS game console..
